    Sara Toomer, DipEventMgt

    Director

Sara has been entertaining people for 31 years in the Bay of Plenty, making her onstage debut at the tender age of 4. With her early years predominantly spent as a performer, of late she has been more focused on taking a seat behind the scenes in various roles including directing, choreography, stage management and event Management. Having started out in dance Sara has vast experience in many forms of dance and is fully qualified in NZAMD Jazz and Tap as well as doing many years of ballet and Irish. She has been nominated for and competed in the National Song and Dance awards in 1997 and in 1999 won the Most Versatile Performer award at the Tauranga Performing Arts Festival. She has also had many years of classical training as a vocalist and has competed numerous times both as a soloist and as part of a chorale. In her years as part of an Irish dance troupe she performed at varied events including entertaining at the 'Americas Cup' and 'Auckland Arts Festival'. A natural progression into Musical Theatre has seen Sara involved with Tauranga Musical Theatre for over 14 years in many different roles both onstage and off, as well as appearing in several Repertory productions. Onstage appearances include shows such as Joseph & the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat, A Slice of Saturday Night (Penny), Showboat, Oliver (Charlotte), Ladies Nights (Allison), 'Allo 'Allo (Yvette), FANG (Arachne) and The Producers, as well as many reviews for Tauranga Musical Theatre. Having choreographed several shows Sara decided to compile, direct and choreograph her first show at age 20 under the umbrella of Tauranga Musical Theatre. In 2006 Sara became part of the professional theatre company ‘Drop the Act’ completing performances both in Tauranga and Auckland, before moving back into Musical Theatre and compiling, directing, and choreographing the two very successful ‘Rock Revival’ shows in 2007 and 2008. She has since choreographed more shows,  including Eurobeat and Fang ReVamped in 2009 - both for Tauranga Musical Theatre. She more recently directed RENT in 2011, and successfully brought a tasteful rendition of an edgy show to a conservative Tauranga audience. In March 2012 Sara appeared as a backing vocalist in Its Party Time with Richard O'Brien and Kokomo Blues  at Founders Theatre in Hamilton. Sara has more recently been seen in a series of performances for The Orchid Lounge - her own T.E.S production and has most recently been seen performing the role of 'Velma Kelly' in Tauranga Musical Theatres production of Chicago in 2014. Saras backstage experience includes Stage Management, Production Management, Marketing, Cue Calling, Lighting Design and Operation, and costume construction. She has recently finished directing 'Rock of Ages' and in August she enjoyed working as a cue caller for Tarnished Frocks and Divas for the third time.

Current Projects: Sara  has just finished performing as Mary Poppins in Tauranga Musical Theatres 'Mary Poppins' and is currently preparing for a December events season.

Industry relevant qualifications: Sara holds a Diploma in Event Management as well as her License Controller Qualification and a current Managers Certificate. She has also finished NZAMD qualifications in Modern Dance and Tap Dance.

Sara believes that good entertainment is good for the soul, and wants to share what has given her enjoyment with others. ‘Nothing beats good live entertainment, it can make you laugh, cry, think and it can be truly inspiring.

    Logan Toomer

    Director

Logan has been on stage in and around the bay for many years. Logan likes to mix his onstage exploits with backstage which gives him well rounded experience over all areas of theatre. Starting out as a youngster in Wellington Logans early memories include singing at the Country & Western Club with his father. From there he went on to learn classical guitar for many years and also attended dance classes. After moving to Tauranga Logan became more focused on his vocals and did some chorale work at Otumoetai College, gaining 3rd place at nationals.
After getting cast in Chess in 1994 Logan got bitten with the bug and has been hooked on live theatre ever since.  In 2006 Logan also took a break from regular theatre and joined the professional theatre company 'Drop the Act' completing several performances in Tauranga and Auckland. Many Tauranga audiences will remember Logan in roles such as 'The Count' in FANG, and 'Lucan' (the werewolf), as well as the 'Tin Man' in The Wizard of Oz. Over the years Logan has racked up some 20 shows including Les Miserables, Miss Saigon, Showboat and most recently delivering a compelling performance in RENT as 'Angel'. Logans Backstage exploits include Stage Management, Follow Spot, Fly Crew, Revolve Operator, Set Constructions and Lighting Setup. When not on stage or backstage Logan can often be found running the Bar at Tauranga Musical Theatre. He has also had a lot of experience assisting with live video footage at events and assisting with technicals. Logan spent August 2012 touring as Follow Spot Operator for Gary Mullens very successful One Night of Queen New Zealand tour. He has most recently been seen on stage at Tauranga Musical Theatre playing the role of Caiaphas in Jesus Christ Superstar.

Current Projects: Logan has just finished a very busy mid year season and is enjoying some well earned R & R.

Industry relevant qualifications: Logan holds his License Controller Qualification and a current Managers Certificate.

Having been on both sides of the coin Logan knows how important each element, no matter how small, of an event is to making it work. 'Live entertainment is like a pyramid, if the foundations haven't been laid right the whole thing is likely to crumble'
